Postpartum Doula Certification
If you are interested in teaching, encouraging, and assisting new mothers and babies, please consider our one-of-a-kind Postpartum Doula Certification program. Comprehensive, evidence-based, wholistic, intricate, ongoing, enthusiastic, loving, and thorough education from the 4th trimester mother and child experts at Welcome Baby Care.
Keeping the high standards we require our staff to embody in mind, we have designed a training program by doulas for doula hopefuls. Certification includes:
- self study and reading
- discussion and reflection on materials covered
- job shadowing
- pro bono shifts for lower income families (for evaluation)
- childbirth and breastfeeding class auditing
- an interactive 2-day or 4-eve skills workshop (scheduled every quarter)
- training in caring for preemies and other families with specific needs

Breastfeeding for Multiples
You CAN Do It!
Breastfeeding Your Multiples– is a unique class designed specifically for expectant parents of Multiples! This class will set you on the right track for successfully breastfeeding your twins or triplets! Learn the basics of breastfeeding newborns as well as how to prepare for the special circumstances that often come with nursing more than one baby. Some topics covered will be:
- feeding premature babies
- feeding babies in the NICU
- maximizing milk supply
- pumping and storage
- feeding cues
- how to keep track of feeds
- positions and tips for tandem feeding
- how to know if your babies are getting enough milk

Breastfeeding 101
This breastfeeding class for expectant parents covers everything you need to know to get off to a great start with your breastfed baby. Taught by trained lactation counselors, and covering the first month after the birth. We provide evidence based information on:
- the benefits of breastfeeding
- milk production
- milk supply
- best latch techniques
- how to know baby is getting enough
- common stumbling blocks and how to overcome them
- pumping and storage
- and much much more!

Parenting Your Adopted Newborn
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of your bundle of joy? Pass the time with practice and preparation at our parenting class uniquely designed for the adoptive family. Beyond the basics of swaddling and diapering, discussion will include the importance of bonding, cognitive and emotional development, and even the possibility of breastfeeding your adopted child. We will also delve into specific challenges faced during adoption including possible loss and managing open relationships.

Moms and Grandmas: Sharing Wisdom, Education, and Support
An interactive class for new and expectant mothers and grandmothers
This class for expectant mothers and their own mothers or mothers-in-law takes the grandparent class a step further! Designed to educate “grandmothers-to-be” on up- to- date maternity care, birth practices and infant parenting, it is also designed as the first step in building bridges of love, understanding and communication between expectant mothers and the grandmother-to-be. Learning takes place in an open, non- lecture format, facilitated by a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Lactation Counselor. This fun and unique class educates and empowers and builds on the bonds of shared motherhood and love.
