Doulas Love Grandmas!

By The Welcome Baby Care Doulas

Grandmothers provide support when the postpartum doula is not there; and often, they pay for our service so that we can return the favor!

They come with a wealth of experience, the best of intentions, and a heart full of love.  They’ve been waiting for this child and they are usually willing to help out in any way they can.

They just don’t always know how.

They don’t want to step on any toes.  They can offer suggestions from their experience, but often feel intimidated by a lack of familiarity with the latest newborn protocol.

New grandmothers also don’t always know how to handle the mixed emotions that accompany their new role.  Now, someone else answers to the name “Mom.”  To stand back and watch another mother-daughter relationship take center stage is bittersweet.  A grandchild is a wonderful blessing, but it is difficult—simultaneously—for a woman watch her little girl take this final step into adulthood.  Now, her baby is a mother!  Where did the time go?

We are SO excited about our new event, which we expect will become a classic…

Grandmother’s Tea!

Upcoming dates are January 6th and February 9th.

This is a non-formal workshop which hopes to educate new and expectant mothers and grandmothers on the latest birth and baby info.  Food, fun, and conversation give way to understanding as we help you join together in communication and love.  A keepsake journal is yours to take with you after this fabulous outing with your mother, mother-in-law, or both!
