Metro Mother’s Day Brunch: A Last Minute Guide

By Welcome Baby Care

We don’t know why brunch has become the traditional meal of Mother’s Day, but we’re not complaining. Brunch is fun! And we love motherhood, newbornsmamas. So here’s the doula-made list of the Metro’s best brunches. Our creative, varied selection promises to include something for everyone!

Classic

Rudy’s Redeye Grill  Fancy a Sunday drive? Head south to Rosemount for Rudy’s Sunday brunch. Choice between a standard, high quality buffet and a made-to-order menu. Cheap Mimosas, heavily garnished Bloody Mary’s, homemade pastry basket, and steak and eggs are the specialties.

Blackbird Cafe All the usual suspects plus a few curve balls, such as oxtail hash and Huevos Rancheros spiked with chorizo and avocado.   Great atmosphere, fun brunch cocktails.

Good Day Cafe Straight-up good food without the pretense. Extensive menu, abundant yumminess, nice prices. Salmon eggs Benedict seems to be the fave here!

Quaint and Cozy

Signature Cafe Literally tucked into the wild-flowered, buckled sidewalk neighborhood—just on the Minneapolis/St. Paul border between the Prospect Park and Desnoyer Park areas. Tiny, tasty, familial. An experience.

Aster Cafe Often referred to as the most romantic spot in the Twin Cities—the Aster overlooks the Mississippi on scenic, historic Saint Anthony Main. Super cool herbal tea-infused cocktails. You can take Mama next door to a movie after! Relaxing, refreshing spot.

Muffaletta “Downtown” Saint Anthony Park in Saint Paul is anything but city. More like a storybook setting with whimsical cottages, overflowing flower baskets and those signature green street lamps. Muffaletta is a sure thing for brunch. Local, farm fresh food. Stunning patio.

Quirky

Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge Tiki drinks and little smokies wrapped in bacon? A hit for the high-energy mommy who would rather not do pink carnations and white table cloths. Sprawling, heavily adorned river deck that feels like a kooky Tahitian resort.

The Chatterbox Pub Donkey Kong anyone? Checkers? Sorry? Battleship? For the kid-at-heart Mama and her little ones, this place is a must. Games and couches and colorful lamps in the happy little Highland Park village.

Pizza Luce Locations everywhere, the proverbial “Mom Heart” tattoo of city brunch. Apple quinoa cakes, an extensive Benedict selection, plus the classics. And pizza! This Mother’s Day, Mom’s first drink is free!

Mamas, we love you! Happy, happy Mother’s Day! Whether you do brunch or dinner; park, museum, or spa…we hope you have a spectacular time! xoxo WBC
