Tory’s Tip: Increase Your Breast Milk Output With Hand Expression

Head Postpartum Doula at Welcome Baby Care shares her recent experience with maximizing output of breast milk following the birth of a baby:

I recently worked with a mom of 3-day-old twins.  She was worried about having enough milk for both babies.  She was not able to use her electric breast pump as she was observing a religious holiday in which she could not access electricity.  Hand expression of breast milk happens to be more useful for moms to stimulate milk supply than just pumping.  It’s easy to learn and moms quickly adjust their technique to optimize their unique milk flow.  This is particularly useful for moms of multiples and preemies.

This video teaches women to express milk by hand, and also shows how moms can use hand expression in conjunction with a pump to maximize emptying the breast. Click HERE to watch.
